The first concert, Green Tea (Celtic music) is
Tuesday, June 2, in the UC mall. The Picnic Series, usually held at the
Wall Amphitheatre, is displaced this summer because of the seating
renovation project at the amphitheatre in June.

Former chancellor hands diploma to
granddaughter
Chancellor Emeritus George Field, who served UWRF
from 1968 to 1985 and presided over more than 30 graduation ceremonies,
returned to the May 16 commencement to hand a diploma to his
granddaughter, Carey Field, both of River Falls. For a recap of

Cascade Avenue repair work continues this
week
The City of River Falls intends to finish repair work on Cascade Avenue
this week. There will be no parking on Cascade Avenue on Wednesday, May
27, and Thursday, May 28, while work is being completed.
Lloyd named recipient of UW System
award
Amy Lloyd, UWRF Leadership and Service coordinator, has been named a
recipient of the 2009 UW System Academic Staff Regents Award for
Excellence. Each year since 1998, two $5,000 awards have been made to
non-instructional administrative and professional academic staff
members at UW System institutions in recognition of their exceptional
service to the University. Amy, the 2007 recipient of the Chancellor’s
Award for Excellence for Academic Staff, will be presented with the
Regents Award for Excellence at the UW System Board of Regents meeting
scheduled for June 4 and 5 in Madison. Please join us in congratulating
Amy on this outstanding achievement. -- Blake Fry
Summer golf passes
The Recreation Activities Committee is sponsoring discounted summer
golf passes for all UWRF students, faculty, and staff. The cost of each
pass is $5, and gets you nine holes of golf at the River Falls golf
club. The passes, which are available for purchase at the Involvement
Center desk in the UC, are good for the entire 2009 season and can be
used anytime on weekdays or after noon on Saturdays or Sundays. A valid
UWRF ID must be presented upon each purchase, and each person is
limited to a maximum of two passes per week.

Nominations for the Chancellor’s recognition
awards due by June 5
Honoring outstanding service to the University is an important
tradition at UWRF. Nominations for the Chancellor’s Recognition Award
for Classified Staff and the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence for
Academic Staff are being accepted through Friday, June 5. Details of
the nomination process are available at http://www.uwrf.edu/awards/.
The announcement of the academic staff and classified recipients will
be made in the Fall 2009. We have many outstanding, dedicated
individuals at UWRF; please support these individuals through your
