Amphitheatre area undergoes improvements
The approach to the Wall Amphitheatre bridge is
being rebuilt this spring with project money available for
institutional roads and walks. The old road had deteriorated to the
point that it was difficult to maintain for safe use and associated
erosion problems. The rebuilt road will provide a practical and
appealing "front entry" to the amphitheatre seating renovation project
in June. The approach and road will reopen June 1. The amphitheater
reconstruction will be throughout the summer but the path to Ramer and
intramural fields will remain open. Photo by

Tubre named 2009 Academic Adviser of the
Year
Travis
Tubré, associate professor of psychology, has been named the 2009 UWRF
Academic Adviser of the Year. He is receiving this honor on the heels
of being named the 2008 UWRF Distinguished Teacher of the Year. The
Academic Adviser of the Year award was established in 2000 to recognize
an outstanding faculty adviser with nominations by graduating seniors
and alumni. Those nominations are then considered by the Faculty Senate
Advising Committee, which makes the final selection. Travis will be
honored at the faculty/staff awards ceremony held annually during the
fall semester. Please join us in congratulating Travis on this
outstanding achievement. -- Blake Fry
Fiscal 09 purchases
The deadline for purchase requisitions for equipment, supplies and
services is now past. If you have any requests that need to be
encumbered in Fiscal 09, please send them to Purchasing Services now.
The Procard purchase deadline is Tuesday, June 23. Contact Purchasing

Nominations for the Chancellor’s
Recognition Awards
Honoring outstanding service to the University is an important
tradition at UWRF. Nominations for the Chancellor’s Recognition Award
for Classified Staff and the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence for
Academic Staff are being accepted through Friday, June 5. Details of
the nomination process are available at http://www.uwrf.edu/awards/.
The announcement of the academic staff and classified recipients will
be made in the Fall 2009. We have many outstanding, dedicated
individuals at UWRF; please support these individuals through your
thoughtful nominations. --Connie Foster
Faculty Senate Ad Hoc Committee meeting
The Faculty Senate Ad Hoc Committee, created pursuant to Section
4.4.3.1 of the Faculty and Academic Staff Handbook, will meet at 9 a.m.
on Tuesday, May 26, in the Willow River Room, UC. Committee chair is
David Trechter. The meeting may go into closed session pursuant to WSS
19.85 (1) (b).
