Students qualify for national competition

Four students represented UW-River Falls in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Hunt Seat zone championships April 8 and two students qualified for the National Competition in May at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. In back, left to right: Juliann Tetschlag of Plymouth, Alaina Kelly of Roberts, and IHSA Founder Robert Cacchione. Tetschlag qualified to compete in the Novice Over Fences competition at nationals and Kelly will compete in the Walk Trot competition. Announcements



Flexible summer hours

UWRF will again authorize flexible hours during the summer.  Summer hours will begin Monday, May 15, and continue through Friday, Aug. 18.  Employees, with supervisor approval, can work any eight hours between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The scheduling of personnel (faculty, staff and student) assigned to each office will be left to the immediate supervisor’s discretion. We will continue the policy requiring offices that serve the general public (see AP-06-110) be open during the hours of 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Direct questions to <mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.



Early time entry and approval deadline Tuesday

There is an early time and absence deadline on Tuesday, April 18, for student employees, temporary employees and University Staff. Time and/or absences for hours worked April 2-15 must be approved by 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18. If time is not entered and approved by 10 a.m. Tuesday, the employee will not be paid.



Spring Series on Retention and Engagement

The final session in the Spring Series on Retention and Engagement (Peer Mentoring as a Way to Engage First Year Students) is Tuesday, April 18, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in B107 KFA. Lyz Wendland, instructor of art, and Rik Seefeldt, professor of psychology, will describe programs within their departments that focus on peer mentoring and engagement including the Art Ambassadors Program and the Peer Mentoring course/program in psychology. Lots of time for questions and discussion.



Reminder:  vote for University Staff Senate open positions

University Staff are encouraged to cast your vote for the University Staff Senate positions. The link to online voting was sent to all University Staff on April 10 from Connie Fassino. Please check your clutter/junk mail if you did not receive the “election survey” ballot. Voting closes Friday, April 21.



Poultry Club’s Easter surprise can sale today

Easter Surprise Cans: The UWRF Poultry Club is selling cans filled with Easter candy and a surprise toy. The toys are either a Splat Egg Ball, a stress egg, a stuffed bunny, a stuffed duck, or a stuffed lamb. The cans are $5 each. It is a great easy gift for any age and will be a true surprise on Easter. They can be purchased in the Ag Science lobby today, April 13, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. or email <mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Ann Lydecker Lecture Series:  Duchess Harris, Wednesday, April 19, 6 p.m., North Hall auditorium, Duchess Harris, American Studies professor at Macalester College, talks about the work of her grandmother Miriam D. Mann and the other “Black Human Computers” who were recently highlighted in the film "Hidden Figures." The Falls Theatre is holding a free community viewing of the movie on Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. on a first come, first served basis.
