The most quintessential back to school question is the age-old “what did you do this summer?” inquiry. Students of all ages are familiar with the icebreaker, the open-ended query that leaves the door open for everything from one-word answers to colorful retellings of the summer’s adventures. It seemed only fitting then, that as our Falcons arrived back on campus last week that we ask the same question. Beef sale

The UWRF Beef Management Team is selling halves and quarters of Angus and Hereford Beef raised on the Mann Valley Farm for $3.15/lb. per hanging weight. A hanging quarter usually weighs 208-240 pounds and will yield approximately 125-150 pounds of beef. Any specialty cuts will incur a small additional cost. Sold on a first come, first serve basis. Applications are encouraged from students in every college and disciplinary field. Historically, URSCA has been able to provide at least partial funding for all strongly written, well-conceived, viable student grant proposals in both categories below. Notice of public hearing

UW-River Falls will hold a public hearing Thursday, Sept. 13, from 9:30-11 a.m. in the St. Croix Room, UC, for the purpose of a mission change. UW-River Falls is seeking to update the select mission statement to include changes to the academic programs and to align with the university’s strategic plan, Pathway to Distinction. UW System Regent Mark Tyler will preside over the public hearing to provide interested persons with the opportunity to make an oral presentation on the revised statement. Each individual who registers to speak will be given up to three minutes for an oral presentation. Registration will be available on site before and during the listening session. Only those who are registered will be able to provide a statement regarding the proposed mission statement. The proposed mission change is available online at https://www.uwrf.edu/AboutUs/vision.cfm. Jody and Abby Testaberg of Kinni Hemp Co. and Whole Plant Technologies will talk about their hemp farm in River Falls as well as some of the products that are created from hemp and what they use them for.
