Lansing recognized as Distinguished Alumnus


Marv Lansing, PhD., a 1954 UWRF graduate, was recognized as the 2012 Distinguished Alumnus during commencement ceremonies at UWRF Saturday. After Lansing received his bachelor's degree in history from UWRF, he began a career as an educator and  retired as superintendent of the Eau Claire Area School District in 1990, a position he held since 1969. Lansing recently established the Marvin and Margaret (Helmer) Lansing Scholarship through the UW-River Falls Foundation to be awarded to a student from Dunn, Eau Claire, St. Croix, or Pierce counties who has financial needPhoto by Kathy M. Helgeson.

Memorial service set for M. Wayne Wolfe
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 110 N. 3rd St., River Falls, for former UWRF vice chancellor M. Wayne Wolfe, age 93, who died May 6. Wayne is credited with starting the Journalism Department at River Falls State Teacher's College in the 1950s, having served UWRF from 1950-1985 when he retired.Please join the university community in extending sincere condolences to the family.
