Campus Dairy Plant offers cheese curds on Thursdays

UWRF Junior Carlie Berg, an animal science major, gets labels ready for 250 pounds of yellow cheddar cheese curds being made in the Dairy Plant on campus. Cheese curds, available on Thursdays, are a popular item in the Falcon Foods store. The Dairy Plant pasteurizes raw milk from the Mann Valley Laboratory Farm to make cheese and ice cream. New Dairy Plant Manager
Please welcome Michelle Farner as dairy plant manager on campus. Michelle is a licensed cheesemaker, starting in the cheese industry in 2002. She is excited to bring her education in food systems and technology from UW-Stout and her previous experience to the university setting. Soul Food Dinner pre-orders available

As a part of Black History Month, we will be celebrating a decade of successful Soul Food Dinners at the Journey House on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Soul Food Dinner is a cultural dining event featuring Southern comfort  food in the Black American style. This event gives people from the campus and community a chance to interact with a diverse group of students and sample some traditional food. Vegetarian dinners are available. Cost is $7/general public; $5/students with UWRF ID. Add $1 for carryout. Walk-ins welcome. Faculty and staff pre-order contact scott.bowman-work@uwrf.edu. CRSCA event is quickly approaching
Celebrating Research, Scholarship and Creative Achievement (CRSCA) 2011 is quickly approaching. CRSCA is an annual event honoring the academic and creative output of UWRF faculty and staff. Those who have published books or articles, presented papers or posters at academic conferences, obtained grants, or completed work in any area of the fine or performance arts during the calendar year of 2011 are encouraged to participate. Visit the CRSCA Web page for complete details and submission form. Citations must be received by March 2 to be included in the booklet; materials for CRSCA exhibits must be received by March 9. The all-campus CRSCA reception will take place Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the library atrium and art gallery. 

Opportunity for young engineering enthusiasts
Engineering enthusiasts who will begin eighth grade in the fall are invited to apply for Camp Badger Exploring Engineering. Past campers have explored the cockpit of an F16, ventured behind the scenes in a state-of-the-art bowling alley, visited a fusion reactor and more. Applications due by March 12.
