BFA show begins today in Gallery 101


A BFA degree show featuring the works of Allison Grahek (relief prints), Katie Habeck (pottery artwork shown above), Bryan Hitchcock (3-D paintings), and Jordan Landauer (ceramic sculptures) opens today in Gallery 101, KFA. A reception is set for 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Submitted photo.

Welcome to UWRF
Please welcome to campus two new hires in the Division of Administrative Services:  Joel Heuschele, controller, and Elizabeth Frueh, budget director. Joel was previously the interim controller at UW-Stout and Elizabeth was the city administrator for the City of Prescott. Please stop by and introduce yourself when you get a chance. Joel's office is located in 220 North Hall and Elizabeth can be found in 111 North Hall. Both began their new positions Nov. 1.

Central Stores is liquidating
Office supplies, excluding paper, are being liquidated from Central Stores. Various items are in stock, such as scotch tape, notepads, and envelopes, etc. A complete list can be found on the Central Stores website.

Social Work open classroom event
The Social Work Department will present an “Open Classroom:  Stress, Vets and Military Social Work” on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 12: 30-3 p.m. in 114 WEB. Colonel Neil O’Connor, US Army Reserve Medical Corps, and Veterans Administration Clinical Social Worker, will present. Col. O’Connor is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Combat Stress Company veteran who now works with returning warriors. The presentation is open to the campus community on a space available basis. Thursday, Nov. 3, noon-1 p.m., St. Croix Room, UC, Chancellor's open session on budget lapse. The most recent information on the budget lapse proposed by the Wisconsin Department of Administration will be provided and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas and concerns at this Town Hall style gathering . All members of the campus community are welcome. Please feel free to bring your lunch. 

Thursday, Nov. 3, 12:30-2 pm., Kinnickinnic Theater, UC, Association for International Development Film Series:  "Endless Revolution." The film examines American intervention in Haiti by focusing on the removal of Jean Bertrand Aristide from power in 1991 and 2004. A discussion will follow the viewing of the film. Thursday, Nov. 3-Saturday, Nov. 5, 7:30 p.m., Davis Theatre, KFA, University Theatre presents "All Shook Up." A lively musical production featuring the songs of Elvis. Admission is $15/adults, $10/age 60+; $5/UWRF students with id.

Friday, Nov. 4, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Pete's Creek, Brown Bag Lunch with Faculty Senators. All interested faculty are invited to join available members of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee as well as Wes Chapin, Faculty Senate chair; Michelle Parkinson, faculty member; and Marshall Toman, faculty senator, for a casual brown bag lunch. Our purpose is to provide newer faculty or faculty unfamiliar with the Senate with answers to any questions they may have about this governing body. Contact michelle.parkinson@uwrf.edu.

The 3 p.m. forum will be done in time for anyone to also attend the UWRF Strategic Plan Town Hall meeting at 3:30 p.m. In the Kinnickinnic Theater, UC. The referendum forums are sponsored by the College Democrats.

Classified staff position openings/exams on campus
The Office of Human Resources has a vacancy for a permanent classified human resources assistant. Those who are interested in this position should take the upcoming Human Resources Assistant exam offered on campus Monday, Nov. 14. It will also be held in other locations throughout the state on Saturday, Nov. 12.
