Now you know
Registration for January term 2009-10 is in progress. Classes
will be offered starting Dec. 26 and ending Jan. 24, 2010.
More 45 courses are offered between fall and spring semesters that meet
general education requirements. In addition, courses in business, art,
psychology, marketing communications, physical education, and many
other areas of study are available.
Most classes are held on weekdays from morning to mid-afternoon over a
four-week session. Study abroad opportunities are also available,
including tours Egypt, Ireland, Vietnam, Italy, India, Costa Rica,
Uganda, and two locations in Mexico. Most trips are two weeks in
duration and the earliest one departs Dec. 28. Early application is
required as study trips can fill quickly.

Culture Fest brings world to UWRF

Open enrollment period ends today
The open enrollment period for Dental, ERA, Vision and UW Employees
Inc. Life Insurance ends today, Nov. 13. Dependent verification forms
(for children over age 19) are being mailed this week. It is
imperative that you return the forms to your current health care
provider by Dec. 1. Failure to do so will result in loss of coverage
for your dependent. Contact Deb Koehler at ext. 3109.

The Academic Staff Council will meet on Monday, Nov. 16, in the Apple

Upcoming Events
Monday, Nov. 16, 17, 18 or 19, first clear night only. Talk
and observatory session hosted by the Physics Department. A
planetarium show presented by Eileen Korenic will begin at 7:15 p.m. in
Room 201, Ag Science; seating is limited to 50 people. Large groups
will be asked to book the planetarium separately. Telescope viewing
will begin at 8 p.m. on the third floor deck of CSH. If no night is
clear enough for viewing, the planetarium show will be given on
Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7:15 p.m. in Room 201, Ag Science. To learn
whether a night is clear enough for viewing, visit http://www.uwrf.edu/physics and
click “Observatory” or call ext. 3560 after 6 p.m. The planetarium show
and viewing are free, open to the public and suitable for all ages.

Seminar: “SoTL in Mathematics Content Courses for Future Teachers”
by Kathy Tomlinson, Don Leake, Laurel Langford, and Erick Hofacker.
Faculty will discuss their SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning)
projects that infused K-12 exemplars into mathematics content courses
over the past two years. K-12 teacher consultants partnered with our
faculty in the development of the projects. Sophomore and senior level
math courses were included in this process. This scholarly activity was
supported by a UW System PK-16 grant under the direction of Mary Manke,
associate dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies
with assistance of Kathy Ernie.

All proceeds from the "Pink the Rink" T-shirts will be donated to the
Susan G. Komen Foundation to support Breast Cancer Research,
along with $2 from every ticket sold. Everyone is encouraged to wear

* 11 p.m., Davis Theatre, KFA, "The Rocky Horror Picture
Show," presented by the UWRF theatre fraternity Alpha Psi Omega. In
true tradition of "Rocky Horror," students will act out the strange and
outrageous characters in front of the screen as they appear on the
film. Before the movie, the audience can join the fun of the pre-show,
including the Rocky Horror
Pledge, crazy phantoms and the anticipation of the “singing” lips! The
pre-show begins at 11 p.m. and the lips sing at midnight. Audience
members can purchase optional prop bags and participate in pre-show
games.
