Faculty College opportunity

Please consider applying for Faculty College at UW-Richland (the smallest of the two-year colleges) Tuesday, May 31-Friday, June 3. The team from UWRF will travel on Tuesday morning and return Friday afternoon (ends at noon). Complete information for this year’s offerings is not quite up yet (should be soon), but the keynote, "Evidence-Based Guidelines to Model Teaching will be given by Regan Gurung, professor of Human Development and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. There will also be sessions on embedding undergraduate work into courses, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), reflective discussion techniques, values and evidence-based teaching, implicit biases and stereotypes in the classroom, and much more. Travel and expenses for up to four faculty members will be covered by UWRF and you can apply using the application at http://www.uwrf.edu/FacultyDevelopment/Programming/Faculty-College.cfm. Piano Recital:  Henry Wang, Thursday, Jan. 28, 7:30 p.m., Abbott Concert Hall, KFA. Wang, a young piano virtuoso and winner of many prestigious regional and national piano competitions, will present a solo piano recital of works by Liszt and Rachmaninoff. Free and open to the public.

Find out how much fun karate can be! Karate at UWRF will begin its winter and spring session with two free karate classes for UWRF students, faculty and staff, childen above the age of 7, and adult community members, Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 2 and 4, at 7 p.m.in the Aerobics Room in the Emogene Nelson Building. These will be introductory lessons to traditional Shotokan karate, with demonstrations by the teachers and participation by those attending.
