Announcements

Battery recycling program launched
The Facilities Management and Sustainability departments have launched a battery recycling program. All types of batteries are now recyclable on campus. Previously, only lead-acid batteries and rechargeable batteries were collected while all dry-cell batteries went into the landfill. We now have collection locations setup around campus for all dry-cell batteries. There is a public collection tube in the Involvement Center just around the corner from the Information Desk, UC. There is also a little bucket in each mailroom in the academic buildings for faculty and staff. Contact [log in to unmask].

Winning 48 Hour Film Competition videos
Last weekend students created a series of short films for the UWRF 48 Hour Film Competition. This event featured a new twist on an annual tradition with on site judging by a panel of UWRF alum judges now working in the Film/TV industry, who determined winners in the categories of best directing, best acting and best technical. Additionally, on site voting was offered to audience members who cast votes for their favorite entry  via text message. The event was made possible by UWRF Student Involvement and the Department of Stage & Screen Arts with prizes donated by Nikon and RED Digital Cinema. UWRF 48 Hour Film Competition films can be viewed at http://www.uwrf.edu/StudentInvolvement/EventsandPrograms/FalconFilmFestival.cfm.
