Please join the Recreation and Sport Facilities Department in welcoming Travis Roy who began his role as the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator Aug. 24. Travis will coordinate Falcon Outdoor Adventures which includes the rental center, Knowles indoor climbing wall, and the outdoor trips program. Travis is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire where he received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training. He is a certified climbing wall and outdoor base managed climbing instructor through the Professional Climbing Instructor’s Association (PCIA). Travis was most recently an athletic trainer with Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie where he also served as a clinical instructor for athletic training students. He has also worked as an outdoor trip leader and rock climbing instructor at UW-Eau Claire for the last four years. Travis’ passions include rock climbing (indoor, outdoor, ice, and mixed), backpacking, paddling, reading and writing, and fitness. His office is in 166 Knowles Center.

Writing Center now open
The Writing Center welcomes all UWRF students seeking development as writers. Walk-ins are welcome; students may also make an appointment in-person or via phone at 3608. We are located in 225 KFA. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Students may also submit papers to the Online Writing Lab (OWL) via D2L. Join us for a webinar detailing how to maximize the value of attending an academic or industry conference. Topics include how to behave with speakers, how to meet the most important people at the conferences, and how to identify the most valuable sessions, events, and other experiences available. Conference etiquette (proper behavior and dress) and follow-up will also be discussed. Fellowship of Christian Faculty and Staff meets Wednesdays
Over the past few years a few Christian faculty and staff have been meeting weekly to encourage each other, study and pray. La Frontera/The Border Photography Exhibition, now through Oct. 8, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Gallery 101, KFA. Exhibition of three internationally recognized photographers:  Byron Brauchli (Mexico), Laura Migliorino (USA), and Anthony Marchetti (USA) in conjunction with the Year of Mexico program. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Hosted by the Art Department.
