Workshop part of federally-funded three-year project

Sydney Arnold, a mathematics education alumna and math teacher at Hudson High School, draws a cycloid while attending a workshop for middle and high school mathematics teachers. The workshop is part of a federally-funded three-year project, "Transition into the Common Core Era," awarded in 2012,  partnering UWRF with the Rice Lake School District. The session that Arnold participated in was the first of two weak-long workshops which brought together a teachers representing 18 different school districts in Western Wisconsin to focus on geometry. A cycloid is a curve traced by a point on the rim as the circle rolls along a straight path. The project wraps up at the end of August. Photo by Kathy M Helgeson.
