June Safety Month exhibit in UC

Announcements

New graduate program prepares math and science educators
UWRF received final approval by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for a new teaching licensure program with optional master's degree. The first group of students with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) began classes in the STEMteach program June 10. The program is designed to encourage and prepare STEM professionals and recent graduates to become math and science educators for middle schools and high schools. Unclassified, academic staff vacancy
Applications are currently being accepted for Physical Plant Manager I position with a working title of Custodial Services Supervisor.  The position has direct responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day activities of custodial operations in academic buildings including the supervision. Open sessions for Head Softball Coach/Co-Sports Information Director

Severe weather (tornado) sirens
The City of River Falls will be performing its monthly test of the severe weather sirens on Monday, June 22 at about 1 p.m. This is only a test. If the weather that day is not suitable for testing, the test will be on Tuesday.


Upcoming Events

The Chill on the Hill Concert series begins Tuesday, June 23, at the Melvin Wall Amphitheatre with Chris Silver presenting The Good Intentions (Bluegrass).

UWRF Psychology Department will host two PREPaRE Workshops next week. Both workshops will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hudson Center. For more information, or to register, go to http://www.uwrf.edu/ContinuingEducation/Educators/PREPaREWorkshop.cfm.

 PREPaRE Workshop 1 – "Crisis Prevention and Preparedness: Comprehensive School Safety Planning" –  Monday, June 22. This one-day workshop provides school-based mental health professionals, administrators, security professionals and other educators the knowledge and resources to help them establish and sustain comprehensive school safety and crisis prevention and preparedness efforts. Upon completion of Workshop 1, participants may continue their training by taking Workshop 2.

• PREPaRE Workshop 2 – “Crisis Intervention and Recovery: The Roles of School-Based Mental Health Professionals" – Thursday, June 25-26. This two-day workshop provides school-based mental health professionals and other school crisis intervention team members with the knowledge necessary to meet the mental health needs of students and staff following a school-associated crisis event.
