Donor Society members try glass blowing

UWRF students help Patricia Caponi create a hand blown glass ornament while sister, Nancy Parlin, in the back, looks on last week during a lunch and glass blowing demonstration held for UWRF Foundation Donor Society members. Caponi attended UWRF in the 1980’s and Parlin is a former vice chancellor and emeriti faculty in sociology. The event included a brief history of the UWRF glass blowing program by emeritus art Professor Doug Johnson and donors working with advanced glass students to create a hand-blown ornament. Donors were able to select the color and blow air into a blowpipe while art students gathered and worked the glass. Assistant professor of art Eoin Breadon lead the activity, answered questions and provided an update on the current glass blowing program. Submitted photo.
