John earned an Associate of Science degree in Computer Networking from Chippewa Valley Technical College in 2001, and graduated from UWRF in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduation John received a commission into the Wisconsin Army National Guard through the Northwoods Battalion ROTC program and attended Blackhawk helicopter flight training at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Rucker, Ala. Upon returning to Wisconsin, John spent time working for Geek World and the Waunakee Community School District in addition to flying Blackhawk training and support missions.
