Annual Scholarship Reception honors donors

Welcome students from North High School and South Washington County schools

The Admissions Office is hosting students from North High School, Minneapolis, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. The group will receive an admissions overview and a tour of campus,  along with lunch. The Admissions Office is also hosting students from South Washington County (Minn.) schools on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The group will receive an admissions overview and a tour of campus. Please welcome these groups as they learn what our great campus has to offer. Breast Cancer Awareness match is Wednesday

Be sure to come out to Karges Center on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m., to support the UWRF volleyball team as they host UW-Superior in the team’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness match. The event includes a silent auction with items from a multitude of local businesses as well as a breast cancer t-shirt sale. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. SECC Statewide Campaign runs through Nov. 28

The SECC Statewide is a workplace giving campaign that offers you the opportunity to donate to one or more of the more than 400 charities that participate via payroll contribution, check or cash. Giving through your work place is as easy as ever. Not sure how much to give? Here's what a few dollars can do:

$2/month provide supplies for an Earth Day project--planting a tree or buying gloves for volunteers who do trail clean-up (Community Shares).

$5/month supports an educational class visit and tour of the historic Leopold Shack and Leopold Center, recognized as one of the greenest buildings in the world. (EarthShare Wisconsin).

*  $10/month provides lifesaving medications for 500 new mothers in Bangladesh (Neighbor to Nation). 

To make your pledge online:

  • Go to www.seccstatewide.wi.govClick on the link for university employees. All university employees are pre-populated. Click "LOG IN."
  • Log in using the following information:

*   Username:  Your university email address (if you have issues logging in, try entering your email in all CAPS)

*   Password:  “wi” + birth month + birth day.  (example: wi0804)

  • Find out more information about the charities and decide who you would like to give to. Follow the instructions on the website to complete your pledge.

Destination Domestic program advisor application deadline is Friday

Reminder:  The UWRF Destination Domestic program is seeking advisors. Learn about the advisor role at http://www.uwrf.edu/StudentLife/ServicePrograms/Destination/Index.cfm. The Destination program began at UWRF in 2006. Since then, Destination has grown to serve a variety of social issues prevalent in the U.S. The Destination Program fosters engaged community members through education, direct service, and reflection. Issues being addressed this year include immigration, environment, hunger and homelessness/at-risk girls. Email [log in to unmask] with questions.
