Panel discusses racial unrest in Ferguson

The nation-wide issues raised, the reactions to, and the press coverage of the racial unrest earlier this summer in Ferguson, Mo., were discussed Monday in the UC by a panel composed of Annie Mason, assistant professor of multicultural education (left), psychology Professor Cyndi Kernahan (center), and journalism Professor Sandra Ellis (right). The panel was moderated by Paul Shepherd, director of Student Life. The discussion began with YouTube videos from Ferguson to provide some background on the event. Best booth results from the Major and Minor Fair
Yesterday 237 students attended the 6th Annual Major and Minor Fair. The evaluations have been tallied and horticulture won the best booth competition. Career Services and New Student Programs would like to thank all the participating departments. We truly appreciate your support for this event.

Department Chair meeting moved up to Thursday
The Department Chair meeting originally set for Friday, Sept. 25, has been moved up to Thursday, Sept. 24, from 8-9 a.m. in the St. Croix Room, UC.

Individuals needed for picture naming study
The UWRF Aphasia Research Lab is now enrolling individuals in a picture naming study. The study is designed to learn more about how individuals with diverse language backgrounds access language. The lab is seeking individuals who have an English/Spanish language background. Time commitment is 15-20 minutes on the UWRF campus or at a local library in Western Wisconsin, Hudson or Twin Cities metro. Contact [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
