New emergency communications tool

The Emergency Management Team would like to announce a new emergency communications tool for pop-up alerting. This program is a one way notification system that allows the Emergency Management Team and the university Police Department to send out desktop alerts to campus owned computers in a matter of seconds. This notification system is in addition to the SMS text messages, emails, voice calls and the campus wide public address system. Layers of notification are essential to getting the message out. This SchoolMessenger desktop alert application will be deployed to all campus owned workstations this week. You will see the SchoolMessenger yellow, red, blue and purple logo appear in the system tray. Visit the emergency management website to update your contact information and to learn more about this new tool.

Innovation assessment participation

The campus community is invited to participate in a Campus Innovation Assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to examine characteristics that might help UWRF and WiSys become the best possible partners in regional economic growth and development. WiSys is an independent 501(c)(3) supporting organization of the University of Wisconsin System. WiSys was founded in March 2000 to work with the UW System’s 11 comprehensive universities, 13 freshman-sophomore UW Colleges and statewide UW-Extension to nurture innovation, support research, build partnerships and transfer technology for the benefit of the UW, Wisconsin, and society. Please take a few moments to complete the assessment at https://wisys.wufoo.com/forms/uwriver-falls-campus-innovation-assessment. Your feedback will be invaluable in assessing UWRF's perspectives and in helping us to be more effective in this area.

Summer hours begin May 19

UWRF will again authorize flexible hours during the summer. Summer hours will begin Monday, May 19, and continue through Friday, Aug. 22. Employees, with supervisor approval, can work any eight hours between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The scheduling of personnel (faculty, staff and student) assigned to each office will be left to the immediate supervisor’s discretion. For example, the supervisor may want to rotate his/her staff on a biweekly basis between the 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. shift (with a 30-minute lunch) and the 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. shift. This would result in employee “A” working the first biweekly period on the 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. shift (with a 30-minute lunch) and the next biweekly period on the 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. shift.  We will continue the policy requiring that offices that serve the general public to be open during the hours of 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information, email [log in to unmask] or call 3502.
