Falcon women finish third in tournament

Outdoor warning siren test today at 1 p.m.

The City of River Falls will be performing the first outdoor warning siren test of the season today, March 24, at approximately 1 p.m. (UWRF has no control over this process or the timing of it.)  UWRF will make an announcement over the campus Emergency Alert System (EAS) at about 12:52 p.m. alerting the campus to the 1 p.m. test indicating that it is only a test and individuals should review the campus severe weather procedures. If severe or threatening weather occurs on Monday, the test will be the next day (Tuesday) at the same time. Please note:  the City of River Falls does not sound an “all clear” after an actual activation of the outdoor warning system. Additional information can be obtained at the National Weather Service website at http://nws.noaa.gov/safety.php or Wisconsin Emergency Management website at  http://emergencymanagement.wi.gov or by calling the River Falls Police Department at 715-425-090). Retirement reception for Dick Trende

Please join us in celebrating Chief Richard Trende’s retirement from the UWRF Police Department on Thursday, March 27 from 1-3 p.m. in the Falls Room, UC. Dick has spent the last seven years working to transition the department from a security department to a now full police force. He has overseen both University Police & Parking during many changes and additions as we continue to grow. We would like to take this time to thank him and wish him well as he moves into the next phase of his life.

eSIS outage Friday-Monday
The UWRF student information system eSIS will be unavailable Friday, March 28, starting at 5 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, March 31. This extended outage is necessary to upgrade the underlying hardware and software infrastructure of eSIS. If you have any questions about this outage, email [log in to unmask].

Bus/van training available

UWRF Fleet now has a 14-passenger bus as well as the 15-passenger vans available for sign out with scheduled driver trainings on Thursday, March 27, or Friday, March 28. An additional improvement to the training is an on-line classroom session that needs to be completed before the behind-the-wheel training. Certificates of completion need to be presented at the beginning of the driving test. Please email [log in to unmask]u for details and to schedule training. Applications encouraged for Chancellor's Student Ambassadors

The Chancellor’s Student Ambassadors (CSA) group is accepting applications for the 2014-15 academic year. If you know of students who are looking to join a student leadership organization or of student leaders who you think would be interested in joining this group, please encourage them to apply. Updated fee payment agreement needed signature

All students must sign the updated UWRF fee payment agreement in eSIS before registering for fall classes. The fee payment agreement hold will be removed immediately after the student electronically signs the agreement. From the Finances section of eSIS Student Center, students select the Fee Payment Agreement link and then click on the View/Accept button for “Fee Payment Effective 3/23/14.” Students should carefully read the agreement before clicking on the “I accept the Terms & Conditions” button at the bottom of the page, however, the agreement is available in eSIS to review after signing. URSCA Course Redesign Grant deadline is Wednesday
The URSCA Course Redesign Grant provides funding for faculty and instructional academic staff members interested in enhancing a significant portion of a current course to incorporate an undergraduate research component. Third annual scholarship benefit dinner features Bob Woodward

The UWRF Rising to Distinction campaign will host a third scholarship benefit on Friday, May 2, with keynote speaker Bob Woodward, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer. Tickets are on sale now.
