New press box at Ramer Field taking shape

Progress is seen at Ramer Field where construction work continues on the Falcon Center projects. Masons lay bricks for the David Smith Stadium press box. It is expected to be complete by mid-August. Please welcome Jesse Aerlyn-Crook to Textbook Services. Jesse began his position as assistant manager on April 20. He previously served as an LTE in Textbook Services and the CAFES Internship office. He brings leadership, purchasing, and quality experience gained in the military and working in private industry. Jesse is located in 29 Hagestad Hall and can be reached at 3106.



IRS telephone scam hits River Falls



The River Falls Police Department has received many calls recently of an IRS telephone scam. The callers are “spoofing” the River Falls Police Department  telephone number as to where the call is coming from. The callers are rude and threaten that the Police Department is coming to arrest them.  One caller advised the scammer identified themselves as from the IRS, told the person they were being audited and knew the name and email address of the victim. Community members receiving a scam call are encouraged to follow the advice found at

Changes to state employee health insurance

The Department of Employee Trust Funds Group Insurance Board met May 19 and approved changes to the state employee health insurance program. ETF will be summarizing the changes made to employee benefits for 2016 in an upcoming communication. Water hydrants flushed Monday-Tuesday

UWRF hydrants will be flushed on Monday-Tuesday, June 1-2. Flushing may cause temporary discoloration. This discoloration is harmless, and generally consists of precipitates (oxidized iron) which do not affect the safety of water consumption. If you notice that your water is discolored, you can clear the issue by running water faucets until the water clears. Contact Facilities at 3827.



UWRF Foundation fiscal year-end procedures

The UWRF Foundation 2014-15 fiscal year ends on June 30. The following request has a deadline of noon Monday, June 15:  Request for payment (RFP) from a Foundation account to a university account. Requests with a deadline of noon Wednesday, July 15 are:  Request for payment (RFP) from a Foundation account to an outside vendor; Request for transfer (RFT) from one Foundation account to another Foundation account.

Summer open recreation at Knowles

Knowles Center is for open recreation during the summer months (May 21-Aug. 7), Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.  Faculty/staff summer memberships can be purchased for $25 at Knowles during open recreation hours. Please note that the facility will be closed while athletic camps are in session. Upcoming Events



InterVarsity Christian Fellowship three-day training on campus June 1-4. The 30 new staff will be training to join the mission and vision of InterVarsity on campuses around the five-state region. InterVarsity, a national collegiate ministry whose vision is “to see students transformed, campuses renewed and world changers developed,” is one of the largest student orgs at UWRF with roughly 135 students who regularly participate in its weekly activities.
