Biology student Mariah Cooper explains that the fringe on her Lac Courte Oreilles regalia traditionally would have been used for binding items gathered in the fields. Cooper and her mother, alumna Nancy Penzkover-Cooper, shared language, information, tribal governance and cultural values of the Lac Courte Oreilles tribe as part of Native American Heritage Month Thursday in the UC. Semester Abroad: Europe seeking program instructors/group leaders
The Semester Abroad: Europe program is seeking applicants to fill two positions as program instructors/group leaders. Semester Abroad: Europe allows junior- and senior-level students to plan and carry out independent study projects in a European country of their choice. New program instructors will serve as group leaders in rotation with other members of the Semester Abroad: Europe team. The first opportunity would be in Fall 2017, with later dates to be determined. Program instructors also assist with the program year round, including off years when not leading a group. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Screening will begin on Jan. 5, 2015, and interviews will be scheduled for finalist candidates at the beginning of the spring 2015 semester. In conformance with Faculty Senate policy, it is preferable that education abroad leaders be active tenure-line faculty members, and participation is subject to the needs of the candidate's department, college, and the university. In addition, candidates should be aware that handicapped facilities and accommodations are more limited in Europe, and the required amount of travel can be physically demanding. For general information, visit www.uwrf.edu/semesterabroadeurope<http://www.uwrf.edu/semesterabroadeurope>. For specific information about the program instructor/group leader position, including application instructions, see Brad Gee in 262 Davee Library, call 3552, or email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
