Now You Know

Two separate teams of UWRF students recently captured second place at two national dairy judging competitions – the 52nd Annual All-American contest in Harrisburg, Penn., and the 22nd Annual Accelerated Genetics contest in Viroqua. In each competition teams must place ten classes of cattle representing the major dairy breeds of North America and present oral reasons on five of the ten classes. Within the oral reasons segment of the contest, the student puts forth a persuasive speech, defending his or her placing on a particular class to the official judge in a one-on-one setting. It’s on to the competition at World Dairy Expo next week!
