Now You Know

The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) hosts National Agriculture Day on March 25. Today marks the 41st anniversary of National Ag Day which is celebrated across the country during National Ag Week March 23-29. It's a day to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture. The theme for National Ag Day is "Agriculture: 365 Sunrises and 7 Billion Mouths to Feed." Each American farmer feeds more than 144 people ... a dramatic increase from 25 people in the 1960s. Quite simply, American agriculture is doing more - and doing it better. As the world population soars, there is an even greater demand for the food and fiber produced in the United States.

The National Ag Day program encourages every American to:

  * Understand how food and fiber products are produced.

  * Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.

  * Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.

  * Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry.
