Falcon women advance to championship game

The Falcon women's hockey team celebrates a goal Saturday against UW-Eau Claire. They defeated the Blugolds, 8-0<http://www.uwrfsports.com/custompages/Stats2013-14/WHockey2014/game26.htm> and 6-1<http://www.uwrfsports.com/custompages/Stats2013-14/WHockey2014/game27.htm> to advance to the finals. They will host UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC Tournament Championship game on Saturday, March 8, at 2:05 p.m. at Hunt Arena. PEACE TALKS is Wednesday
Join Peer Empowerment and Community Education for this week’s PEACE TALKS: Sharing Ideas to Create PEACE event on Wednesday, March 5. The Office of Academic Affairs is seeking nominations for both the Keith Wurtz Award for Teaching Excellence and the Paul B. and Robert Dykstra Faculty Excellence Award. Falcon Center groundbreaking set for May 2
Celebrate! Please join donors, alumni, volunteers and university leadership for a groundbreaking luncheon and ceremony for the Falcon Center, UWRF’s new $63.5 million home for the Department of Health and Human Performance, Student Recreation and Falcon Athletics on Friday, May 2. A lunch ($10 per person) will be served at noon at Hunt Arena with a 2 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony (free outdoor event). Tuesday, March 4, 8 p.m., 271 CSH, Public Astronomy Talk and Observatory Viewing. Free and open to the public. Physics Professor Eileen Korenic will present “Happy Fat Tuesday! - How Astronomy Determines Easter" at 8 p.m. Telescope viewing on the third floor observation deck at 8:30 p.m. All observatory viewings are dependent on a clear sky. The talk will go on as scheduled regardless of the weather.

* 10 a.m.,112 KFA, Minneapolis-based Cinematographer Alex Bowes will demonstrate the RED ONE camera package on loan to the UWRF Digital Film & Television program from RED Digital Cinema and discuss his role as producer, director and cinematographer in the world of digital film and video production. The RED Digital Cinema Camera Company manufactures elite digital cinematography tools used by the world’s top cinematographers for such films as “The Hobbit”, “Robocop 2014”and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and television programs “Arrested Development”, “The Originals” and “House of Cards.” Students in the Digital Film & Television program will have access to the RED ONE Camera package for the production of a series of group digital film projects during spring semester.
