Annual rodeo captivates audiences

The 54th annual Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo over the weekend entertained and captivated audiences in nine events. The UWRF Rodeo began in 1964 and today averages 300 participants from across the Great Lakes region.

 

Announcements

   Burns named Foundation president

Janet Burns has been named president of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Foundation, effective immediately. Burns has been serving as the interim president since June and has been the Foundation accountant since February 2013. Burns will lead the Foundation team that receives, manages, and disperses Foundation funds consistent with board policy, donor wishes, and the strategic initiatives of the university. She brings over 20 years of experience to the position. She received her BS in finance from UW-La Crosse.

Nominations for Chancellor’s recognition awards deadline Thursday

Honoring employees for their outstanding service to the university is an important UW-River Falls tradition. Nominations for the Chancellor’s Recognition Award for University Staff and the Chancellor’s Award for Academic Staff are being accepted through Thursday, Sept. 13. Details of the nomination process are available at http://www.uwrf.edu/awards/. The announcement of the recipients of the awards will be made later this fall. Please take time to nominate an inspiring academic or university staff employee today.

Ice Cream Social, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1-2:30 p.m., 117 South Hall. UW-River Falls has been recognized with two 2018 CASE Educational Fundraising Awards for both Overall Fundraising Performance which measures the breadth of support as well as other indicators of a mature well-maintained program and Overall Fundraising Improvement which measures significant growth across a three-year period as compared to peers at similar institutions. UWRF is one of only six public universities nation-wide to receive both honors and the only UW campus to receive recognition in either category. Please help us celebrate these achievements! This gathering will also provide an opportunity to extend well wishes to Assistant Chancellor of University Advancement Chris Mueller as he leaves UWRF for a new opportunity at the University of St. Scholastica.

Weekly Relaxation Practice, Wednesdays, 3:30-4 p.m., 162 Hagestad Hall. Weekly relaxation skills include mindfulness, meditation, visualization, and breathing. Held each Wednesday during the academic year. Open to faculty, staff and students.
