Men's hockey season opener tomorrow night


Falcon defenseman Tyler Briola celebrates a team goal last season at Hunt Arena. The men's hockey team will open their season at home  Friday, Nov. 8, against Concordia-Moorehead College at 7:05 p.m. The team is split with 14 returning players and 14 first-year players. This year is the first year the program will not compete in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. All five WIAC teams will now compete in only the WIAC. UWRF was a charter member in the NCHA and started play in the league in 1980 and won three championships (1988, 1996, 2007). Surplus property sale Friday
UWRF holds a surplus property sale the second Friday of each month. The next sale is Friday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m.-noon in Rodli Hall. Please enter through the loading dock entrance on the west side of the building. Sale items include, but are not limited to, computers, desks, tables, filing cabinets, chairs, bookcases, building materials, electronics, cabling, hardware, office supplies, and much more. Specialty items this month include mini refrigerators and lockers as well as reduced prices on CPUs and chairs. If you have questions, contact Facilities Management at 3827. Deadline to order regalia is tomorrow

Reminder:  Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 8, is the deadline to order regalia. If you need to rent regalia for commencement on Dec. 15. Contact Sherry or Kathy at the Falcon Shop, UC, at 3962.


Upcoming Events 

Friday, Nov. 8, 10-10:50 a.m., Falcon's Nest, UC, "How to Use a Social Action Research Survey in Your Work for Social Change," presented by David C. Jehnsen. This framework engages communities in identifying key issues and framing them around universal human values. Jehnsen was an activist and organizer in the Chicago Movement working with Dr. King.  He has since dedicated his life to codifying the strategy and philosophy of Dr. King's nonviolent social change work into training opportunities for others. Friday, Nov. 8, noon-1 p.m., 201 Rodli Hall, Lunch and Learn:  Brazilian Fridays. Hosted by Brazilian students enrolled in beginning English classes.
