The Art Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation.  Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): Departure:  Thursday, November 3 – Friday, November 4, 2016
Activity: SOFA CHICAGO 2016   (Sculpture Objects Functional Art & Design Expo)
Academic Rationale for Absence:
Art Society students are attending the 2016 SOFA CHICAGO Art Expo to view world renowned two and three-dimensional artwork presented at the Navy Pier on November 3 - 6. Over sixty-seven national and international galleries showcase art including ceramics, fibers, glass, monumental sculptures with a new addition of two-dimensional works of painting, photography, and printmaking.  Attending students will have an opportunity to meet artists, gallery owners, curators and designers. Presentations by Friends of Fiber Art International, the Glass Art Society, Society of North American Goldsmiths, Penland School of Crafts are scheduled through the 4-day event.
Students attending and are involved in Art Society include BFA, MS, Art Education and Marketing Communication majors.
