The Health and Human Performance Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation. Dates & Times: Wednesday & Thurday, October 5th-6th  from 8am to 5pm
Activity: Wilderness Inquiry Adventure Day for Ramsey Middle School students, Fort Snelling State Park, Minneapolis
Academic Rationale for Absence: In PED 275- Leadership in School-Based Adventure Education, students learn about the use of adventure-based activities to promote personal growth and group development. Wilderness Inquiry Inc., based in Minneapolis, is a non-profit organization that focuses on exposing urban students to outdoor adventure experiences. PED 275 will be designing and facilitating group-based adventure programs that day, utilizing concepts and skills learned in the classroom. This is a valuable leadership experience for these students and will expose them to a diverse group of urban students.
