RE:  Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event

The Agricultural Education Department and Teacher Education  Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation.  Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 29
Activity: Chisago Children’s Water Festival near Taylors Falls, MN. This festival involves over 700 5th grade students from Chisago county. UWRF students will be serving as presenters at 10 learning stations at the festival
Academic Rationale for Absence: The festival provides an excellent opportunity for future teachers to work with middle school age students. The festival provides a unique opportunity for UWRF students in the agricultural education, secondary science education and STEMteach programs to teach the same activity multiple times in the same day.
