RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: James Graham, Agricultural Education
The Agricultural Education Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): Wed., Nov. 16 from 12:45-2:00 p.m.; Fri., Nov. 18 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:45-3:45 p.m.; and Mon., Nov. 21 from 12:15-2:30 p.m.
Activity: Teach elementary 4th grade students in River Falls, WI about agriculture. Wednesday, Nov. 16-Public Montessori Elementary School; Friday, Nov. 18-Westside Elementary and Greenwood Elementary Schools, and Monday, Nov. 21 Rocky Branch Elementary School.
Academic Rationale for Absence: Course requirement for AGED 369 & AGED 689, group teaching to provide the historical, legislative, social and economic perspectives of agriculture as they relate to the public education system. As part of DPI licensing requirements, agriculture students must have teaching experiences working with elementary level students.
