RE:  Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM:  Dr. David Trechter, Agricultural Economics Department
The Agricultural Economics Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation.  Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): leaving 7 a.m. Sunday, March 19 through 5 p.m. Tues., March 21, 2017
Activity: Agriculture Future for America Policy Institute in Washington, DC
Academic Rationale for Absence: Agriculture Food for America Policy Institute is held in conjunction with National Ag Day provides a unique perspective on national agricultural policy.  Students learn about policy for a specific portion of agriculture and interact with industry professionals, government agencies, and elected officials and their staffs.  Student are selected for this workshop via a competitive application process.
