announcement: Approved 2.15.18
TO: UWRF Colleagues
RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: Sonja L. Maki, Plant & Earth Science Department
The Plant & Earth Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university's policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times ("activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations"): Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM
Activity: Visit to Wagner's Greenhouse, 6024 Penn Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55419 and Agronomy & Plant Genetics Greenhouse, 1529 Lindig Street, St. Paul, MN 55108.
Academic Rationale for Absence: The Crop Physiology (CROP 435) students will be visiting Wagner Greenhouse to learn about seeding and young plant establishment in the greenhouse industry. They will also learn about light measurement and LED lighting techniques as it relates to photosynthesis and light quality for optimum crop growth and development. We will also visit the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus for a tour of their agronomy related greenhouse projects.
