RE:  Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event

The Plant & Earth Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university's policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation. Dates & Times ("activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations"): ESM 360 class will depart at 1 PM and return at 5 PM on Feb 21st, 2018
Activity: Field visit to the USGS Lab in Moundsview, MN to see state-of-the-art equipment
Academic Rationale for Absence: This is the top organization in the USA for conducting hydrology and water quality measurement. I will need an 2 or more hours for transportation. So I would like to combine 2 lab sessions into one to make this trip possible.
