RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: Travis Tubré, Psychology Department
The Psychology Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): April 3, 2017, 10:45AM to 3PM
Activity: Psychology 362 (Psychological Foundations of Employee Training) class visit to Target Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN.
Academic Rationale for Absence: My course in the Psychological Foundations of Employee Selection teaches students about academic and practical issues in the training of employees. Target Corporation (a Fortune 500 retail firm) has invited my class to their corporate headquarters to learn about the training practices they employ, tour their facilities, and meet key players in their Learning and Development Departments. This is, obviously, a tremendous opportunity for the students to see the concepts we discuss in the course put into practice.
