TO: UWRF Colleagues
RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: Dr. Lissa Schneider-Rebozo, Director of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity and Professor of English
The Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): April 10, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. through April 12, 2017 all day
Activity: Undergraduates will present their research posters to legislators, state leaders, and other supporters at the 15th Annual Research in the Rotunda, located in the Capitol Rotunda in Madison, Wisconsin.
Academic Rationale for Absence: Research in the Rotunda (formerly known as Posters in the Rotunda) is important to the student’s professional development as well as an opportunity to present their research and connect with other scholars in and out of their field. Research in the Rotunda is a great opportunity to showcase the talents of our students, and students from across UW-System, by sharing their research posters and experiences with our legislators, state leaders, and other supporters. It is a unique opportunity to educate state leaders with the value and importance of undergraduate research by talking directly with the students whom these programs impact.
