The Animal and Food Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): February 16, 2017; depart 8:00 a.m.; return 7:00 p.m.
Activity: Open house at Blake’s Point Sow Farm near Prairie du Chien, WI.
Academic Rationale for Absence: Due to biosecurity protocols, it is impossible to get students into swine farms of any kind. Since this is a company sponsored open house of a new unit, it is a unique opportunity to expose Swine Production students to the latest sow farm technology and management systems.
