TO: UWRF Colleagues
RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: Mari Kline-Kluck, SASA – DANC 260
The SASA Department (Dance 260 – Dance Production and Repertoire) is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): Departure: Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at 7:00am
Return: Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016 at 11:30pm
Activity: American College Dance Association (ACDA) North-Central Regional Conference held in Stevens Point on the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point campus. Students will participate in workshops and classes taught by professors and professionals in the North-Central Region. All students attending will have the opportunity to represent the University of WI – River Falls in Adjudication Concerts and in Informal Concerts, as well as observe performances from other colleges and universities from the North-Central Region. Research projects will be presented by students and faculty from colleges and universities in the region. Important networking with professionals, faculty and students contributes to future collaborations and job opportunities for students attending this annual conference.
Academic Rationale for Absence: This annual conference provides learning opportunities not available on the UWRF campus, thru diverse workshop/class offerings. Students will have the opportunity to network and learn from faculty, professionals, and other students from the region and will be able to foster future collaborations and potential job opportunities through these connections. Students will represent UWRF when presenting their Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activities at this conference.

8.2.11 University Sponsored Off-campus Activities and Field Trips: Students will not be penalized for missing class in order to participate in University sanctioned events. If class attendance is a requirement, missing a class in order to participate in a University-sanctioned event will not be counted as an absence. Such absences do not relieve the students of any of their class responsibilities (e.g., homework, exams, lecture notes, etc.). Students are responsible for completing course requirements that are due on the dates of University-sanctioned events per prior agreement with the instructor. A University-sanctioned event is defined to be any extracurricular event (e.g., educational field trips or conferences, theatrical performances, intercollegiate athletic contests, musical performance or tours, etc.) as approved by the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
