The Animal and Food Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation. Activity: Golden Valley Animal Humane Society
Academic Rationale for Absence: As the leading animal welfare organization in the Upper Midwest, AHS is transforming the way shelters care for animals and engage their communities. From innovative medical and behavior programs to investments in outreach and advocacy, they’re advancing animal welfare and creating a more humane world for animals everywhere. The students will get a behind the scenes tour that will go over all aspects of administration of such a large, active non-profit. Because Companion Animal emphasis students do not have a laboratory farm of companion animals for hands-on activities, tours are one way to fulfill that need.
