RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: Rick Burgsteiner
The Journalism (WRFW) Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university's policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times ("activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations"): Departure will be 6 a.m. on Friday, February 23rd. Returning on the evening of Saturday, February 24th.
Activity: Students will be touring WRST Radio in Oshkosh. They will then attend the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Seminar in Middleton WI. The Seminar is an annual, day-long conference providing students with career related and networking opportunities.
Academic Rationale for Absence: Students attending the Wisconsin Broadcaster's Association Student Seminar gain exposure to a variety of topics. The classes are taught by professionals in these broadcasting related fields. Also, there are designated networking opportunities to help students make the contacts needed for potential future employment.
