Date(s) and Time(s) of Event:
May 2, 2019, 8 am to 4 pm
Activity:
Physics Day with the Minnesota Twins outreach event.
Academic Rationale for Absence:
Physics Day with the Minnesota Twins brings in 800 to 1000 high school students for a day of baseball-related physics activities. UWRF physics students, faculty and alumnni have been serving as the volunteers supervising the activities for over a decade, ever since the Twins began sponsoring Physics Day. The rationale for absence centers on the need for knowledgeable volunteers in order for this massive outreach event to be carried out twice each spring. This is an excellent opportunity to encourage a sense of service in our physics students, and provides modest visibility for UWRF, as all the volunteers wear UWRF attire whenever possible.
Participating Students:
Mitchell Ahlswede
Austin Beasley
Dylan Frikken
Jacob Hanson-Flores
Joshua Hunt
Kyle Lueckfeld
Cavan Maher
