The Animal and Food Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university's policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation. Dates & Times: April 9 - April 13, 2018
Activity: North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge and Academy
Academic Rationale for Absence: The National Dairy Challenge and Academy allows for students to participate in both a competition as well as take part in a learning situation.  As part of the Challenge, 4 students represent the University against 32 other national universities.  As part of the Academy, 7 different students learn how to evaluate different aspects of a farm.  They go through areas of reproduction, nutrition, management, etc. with Academy advisors that walk them through step by step how to analyze their specific area.  This entire event allows all students to network with industry professionals as well as other university students from across the country.
