The Plant and Earth Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time.  The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies.  Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university's policies* is appreciated.  Thank you for your support and cooperation. Dates & Times: Wednesday, March 21st. Departure at 12 pm, return at 5 pm
Activity: Field trip to Superior Fresh, Hixton, WI for Soil Fertility (SOIL 311)
Academic Rationale for Absence: It is important for students enrolled in soil fertility to get exposure to different applications of soil fertility and nutrient cycling. Superior Fresh specializes in aquaponics to grow leafy greens. The objective of the trip is to have students see the application and importance of possessing knowledge of nutrient management to grow crops under greenhouse conditions.
