RE: Off-Campus, University-Sanctioned Event
FROM: Bonnie Walters, Animal And Food Science Dept
The Animal and Food Science Department is sponsoring an off-campus activity and a student in your course might miss class time. The offices of the Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs require that students provide this notice to you no later than one week prior to their scheduled activity to be in compliance with appropriate policies. Your consideration in allowing them to complete course assignments and work in compliance with these university’s policies* is appreciated. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Additional details are below.
Dates & Times (“activities should not be scheduled during the final exam period or one week prior to final examinations”): Sunday, Nov 6 at 5 am to Wednesday, Nov 9 at 5 pm
Activity: National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest at University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AK. The contest include evaluation of live birds for egg and meat production, and the grading of poultry meat and egg products.
Academic Rationale for Absence: Students participating in the contest get to find out how their level of knowledge compares to other students around the country. It also helps build critical thinking and decision making skills. Students are required to rank the individuals.
