Men's basketball wins WIAC championship title

Falcon Wade Guerin pushes past a UW-Stevens Point player Friday night at Karges Center in the WIAC Tournament semifinals where the Falcons won 76-51 to advance to the WIAC tournament final Sunday. Guerin went on to be the top scorer in Sunday's WIAC championship game against UW-Whitewater, where the team claimed the WIAC championship title for the first time. The win gives the Falcons an automatic berth in this week’s NCAA Division III National Tournament. Tournament pairings and locations of games will be announced later today. Announcements

Dear UWRF Community and Friends,

Over the past eight months, faculty and staff throughout the campus have been working diligently to craft UW-River Falls’ next strategic plan, Pathway to Distinction. This effort has included collecting input from our external partners, conducting an environmental scan, communicating progress to stakeholders, developing a trio of focused goals, and developing a series of important initiatives. While much work is still to be done, it is important that we recognize and celebrate the hard work that many have put forth to make this new strategic plan a reality. To that end, I ask that you hold on your calendars the afternoon of Thursday, April 26, for a Pathway to Distinction Celebration. The celebration, scheduled for 2:30-4 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom, UC, will feature a showcase of what makes UW-River Falls an outstanding university, remarks from university and UW System leadership, and an opportunity to interact with the campus leaders responsible for crafting the goals and initiatives of the plan.

More information will be forthcoming about the celebration, including suggested directions and parking in the midst of the Cascade Avenue transformation scheduled to begin the first week of April. In the meantime, I encourage you to follow progress made towards the completion of Pathway to Distinction at http://www.uwrf.edu/strategicplan.

Sincerely,

Dean Van Galen
