WiTEACH students receive scholarships


Through a grant from the Xcel Energy Foundation four WiTEACH students have each received a $500 tuition scholarship. The scholarships are intended for WiTEACH Teacher Education students pursuing a degree in a “high need” field of education like science or math and for students from underrepresented populations in teacher education. This is the third consecutive year that the Xcel Energy Foundation has partnered with the WiTEACH program to support the growing need for high quality teacher education candidates Submitted photo.

Listening Sessions set for Oct. 26

UW System representatives will be on campus Wednesday, Oct. 26, to host a listening session.Two sessions will be held, one at 10:15 a.m. and one at 11:30 a.m., both in the Kinnickinnic Theater, UC. The legislature has mandated that the University of Wisconsin create a new personnel structure and implement it by July 2013. For more information, visit the Human Resources website.


Noncredit classes offered online

Noncredit classes are conveniently offered online through UWRF for professional development or personal enjoyment. Learn a new language, polish your computer skills, or get ahead with a business course. Classes start each month and cost is $95. Thursday, Oct. 20, 4 p.m., Kinnickinnic Theater, UC, Free Film Screening:  "Attack of the Moon Zombies" presented by UWRF Digital Film & Television. Twin Cities based independent filmmaker Christopher Mihm's sixth feature film was recently released in 2011.The film, produced in the 1950s Sci-Fi genre, isn't rated but is appropriate for general audiences. Director Mihm will be available for questions and discussion after the film as well as for autographs. Additional information about "Attack of the Moon Zombies" and other Mihm's films is available at http://www.moonzombies.com. The fair is an excellent opportunity for faculty, staff and students to network with more than 80 representatives from a variety of organizations and graduate schools. Faculty are encouraged to bring their classes or recommend student attendance. Please remind students they will not be permitted to enter the Career Fair without professional dress. Students wearing sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts, wind pants, pants with holes, t-shirt, hats, and flip-flops will not be allowed to participate.
