Now you know
The Destination program began on UWRF’ campus
in 2006. Students, wanting to help to rebuild the Gulf Coast after
Hurricane Katrina’s devastation, organized a J-Term trip to Gulfport,
Miss.
The following Spring Break students returned
to continue serving in that community. Since its establishment in 2006,
Destination has grown to serve a variety of social issues prevalent in
the United States. The Destination program has already had over 300
UWRF participants, and it continues to grow.
Destination’s mission is to challenge
students to explore social issues prevailing throughout the United
States and beyond. Through Destination, participants provide service to
the host community, learn about the social issues, connect what they
have experience to what they see in their own communities, and continue
their growth in becoming a lifelong active citizen.
