Corpse flower possible debut in couple days

Corpse Flower photo

Watch UWRF's corpse flower as it unfolds (literally): a live video stream of the plant at http://www.justin.tv/d/uwrf_tv#/w/427325184/10 has received more than 17,300 views since Sept. 29. Last night the corpse flower grew two and one half inches, having grown four inches in height the previous night. Although there is no way to precisely predict when the plant, housed in the university's greenhouse, will bloom and emit its noxious aroma, Greenhouse and Field Plot Manager Dan Waletzko estimates that Monday could be the day. The public may view the plant daily from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., including Saturday and Sunday this weekend. More than 550 people have visited the plant in the past few days. To find out more about this unique plant, visit http://www2.uwrf.edu/college-of-agriculture/CorpseFlower.htm. Photo by Jens Gunelson.
