Announcements
Brown named UW-Parkside's Provost
College
of Arts and Sciences Dean Terry Brown, who served as UWRF interim
Provost from April 2008 to June 2009, was named UW-Parkside’s Provost
and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Monday. One of four finalists
interviewed, UW-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford announced Brown’s
selection to staff Monday.
“Dr. Brown has served UW-River Falls with distinction as a
faculty member and an administrator for many years. I know that Terry
will excel as Provost at UW-Parkside and will be a valued member of
Chancellor Ford’s team,” said UWRF Chancellor Dean Van Galen.
When Provost Fernando Delgado arrived on campus, Brown
returned to the College of Arts and Sciences as dean. Prior to being
named dean in 2005, Brown served that college as associate dean, and is
a faculty member in the English Department. Brown earned her bachelor
of arts and master of arts degrees from Virginia Tech University and
her Ph.D. from the University of Florida.
“It has been a privilege to serve as Dean of the College of
Arts and Sciences, which daily confirms through the commitment of its
faculty and staff that it is the intellectual and creative heart of
this university,” Brown said Monday. “I am sincerely grateful for the
opportunity that I have had to work with such wonderful people since I
began my work here as an assistant professor of English.”
No decision has been made yet on the selection of an interim
dean to replace Brown, who is expected to leave in March, or when a
search for a new dean will begin.
