Gov. Doyle stops briefly at UWRF
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle made a quick stop at
UWRF Tuesday to welcome and greet the Kansas City Chiefs players and
staff at their 19th Summer Training Camp. Doyle also spoke briefly with
Chancellor Van Galen and other University administrators and community
members involved with the summer camp. University
Communications camp marketing Intern Amanda Kane got a chance to speak

Announcements
Reallocation training
Friday is the deadline to sign up for reallocation
training next week. There are still openings at the1:30 time slot on
both Aug. 19 and Aug. 20. This training is primarily helpful for
procard holders who may need to transfer expenses between various
departments. Also, anyone from the pilot group is welcome to attend a
session if needing a refresher. If you have not signed up yet, e-mail
your W# to set up your account to gail.anderson@uwrf.edu.
Online Web survey results
The UWRF Website Redesign team recently conducted an online survey to
evaluate the campus website. The results are posted at http://www.uwrf.edu/webhelp/redesignPhase2/surveyresults.php?v=SnO9Jyz82Ps.
Future Homecoming dates set
Due to many inquiries of the Athletic Department as to when UWRF
Homecoming 2010 will be held, the 2010 and 2011 dates has now been set.
UWRF Homecoming 2010 will be Oct. 2, and UWRF Homecoming 2011 will be
Oct. 15. UWRF Homecoming events for 2009 are set for Saturday, Sept.
26, when the Falcons host Alma College. Contact Doris Holter at ext.

New York Times on campus
UWRF will once again participate in the Times readership program during
the upcoming semester. We invite you to use the Times in your fall
courses as a supplemental source of up-to-date, well written and
thoroughly researched articles on a wide range of topics. The Times
offers some of the country’s best writing on politics, science, the
arts, business, economics, technology, sports, and international
issues. The Times is provided to students at no cost to them. The
newspapers will be delivered Monday through Friday beginning Sept. 8,
and will be available in boxes around campus. The last delivery of the
term will be on the last day of classes. Faculty who participate in the
program can receive free home delivery of the Sunday Times; and free
Monday through Friday delivery in some zip codes.

UWRF t-shirts needed for quilts
Falcon Programs is looking for unused, extra UWRF t-shirts to help make
t-shirt quilts for the Turningpoint Shelter here in River Falls. If
your department has t-shirts you would like to see used, contact katelyn.peterson@uwrf.edu
or amy.lloyd@uwrf.edu.
Security updates to Windows computers
IT will send security updates to Windows computers on Monday, Aug. 17,
beginning at 10 p.m. Please prepare Windows computers in your area for
these updates by restarting them at the end of the day on Monday.
Please leave them at the login prompt after they restart. If you are
not able to leave your computer on, the updates will take place the
next time the computer is powered on and connected to the campus
network. Thank you for your assistance in keeping UWRF's computing
environment safe and efficient.
