Community
Luncheon focuses on sustainability
Hudson School District Superintendent Mary
Bowen-Eggebraaten was among some
28 guests who attended the Chancellor's Community Luncheon on
Sustainability on Thursday in the UC. Bowen-Eggebraaten described the
district's efforts in building a "Green" school, as guests shared
information on their initiatives to address community economic,
environmental and social sustainability. The meeting drew
representatives from throughout western Wisconsin, the east Metro,
Madison and by videoconference to Washington, D.C., to forge
collaborations on common interest areas. They were joined by faculty
from all colleges who are engaged in sustainability research and
education, as well as campus leadership. For

Announcements
ITS has identified a network issue
which may cause a disruption of services. We are taking steps to circumvent the situation. We
will continue to monitor services. Please call the HelpDesk at ext.4357
if you experience problems.
Suspects have been apprehended by
River Falls Police Department relating
to recent purse thefts on campus. The
suspects had no connection to the University, but may have been
involved in other thefts in the metro area, including other
universities. I would like to remind people about the importance of
securing personal property on campus. Additionally, if people are seen
in areas where they seem out of place, it would be advisable to either
report observations to Public Safety, and/or observe the person(s). In
some situations it would be appropriate to approach a person appearing
out of place and ask if he/she needs help or directions. Such a contact
can be a deterrent to a person who may be looking for an opportunity
to steal property. -- Richard Trende,
Public Safety director
